MORECAMBE have signed Manchester United defender Sean McGinty on loan.
McGinty, 18, is a talented defender who arrived at Old Trafford in summer 2009 from Charlton Athletic.
He has joined the Shrimps until March 31 but there is an option to extend the deal if required. He is described as a versatile defender who can play at centre half or left back.
He is highly rated and has already represented the Republic of Ireland at youth levels.
Born in Maidstone, Kent, McGinty spent three years at Charlton before agreeing to move north to Manchester.
Sean excelled as a regular starter during his first season with United’s Under-18s, making 21 appearances for Paul McGuinness’ side.
He played his part in the squad that lifted the FA Youth Cup in 2011, pushing for starts in the full-back slot and impressing with his power and aggression and is now a regular in the reserves.
McGinty will take the number three shirt and is eligible for the Shrimps’ clash with Dagenham on Tuesday night.
