In THE Fisher/Howson Remembrance Cup the often postponed first round tie between Millhead Reserves and Arnside Reserves finally beat the weather and what a game it was.
The whole 90 minutes were breathtaking as both teams rattled in five goals each to send the tie into extra time.
Both teams, after their exertions, tired rapidly but still managed to score one goal each for the game to end in an astonishing 6-6 draw.
Simon Russell (2), Ashley Law (2), Brett Alan and Steve Everson scored for Millhead.
Matthew Smith (3), Joe Parsons, James Bland and Craig Baron scored for Arnside.
This brought the penalty shoot out, with both sides scoring five times before a Millhead player missed.
Up stepped Arnside’s hero Allan Stribling, who had never missed a penalty before, and kept his nerve to score the winning goal with only his second ever spot kick. His last one was 40 years ago.
