AT THE match played on Tuesday, April 19, Garstang created chance after chance before finally securing the much needed victory with only five minutes left to play.
This was a genuine six pointer against a team who had climbed above them in the league table the previous Saturday.
Manager Darley introduced yet another new signing in veteran Kenny Mayers in a desperate move to fight off relegation and indeed it was Mayers who showed any real quality in the game.
Although the former Morecambe, Lancaster, Chorley and Bamber Bridge player was guilty of a number of misses himself he did provide Kinsey with the all important goal on 85 minutes.
It all looked to be going wrong for Garstang after spurning a number of scoring opportunities, firstly Geoff Wilson had to retire from the game with a neck injury on 44 minutes, Couch had to leave the field with an injury shortly after the break, then late on in the game Dalton blew their one and only big chance of the game when substitute White fired over the bar with only Howell to beat.
Garstang deserved their win for the commitment alone with Bullock, Brooks, Ross and Richard Wilson showing a great never-say-die attitude and in so doing motivating their colleagues to go on and win the game.
Garstang: Howell, Pickles, Couch (Woodruff 64), Brooks, G Wilson (Matticheccia), Bullock, Ross, Mayers, R Wilson (Hunt 81), Kinsey, Morris.
