The kick off was delayed by 15 minutes, but when the action finally got underway it was the Dolly Blues who opened the scoring with the first shot on target after 21 minutes through Sam Bailey, who hit a superb shot from outside the penalty area.

City held on to their lead until half time and in the 56th minute they extended their advantage when, after a good spell of pressure, Grantham were caught out on the counter and Craig Carney finished the move off to make it 2-0.

However, the visitors were still in the game and in the 64th minute substitute Curtis Burrow pulled a goal back, firing the ball into the back of the net from inside the penalty area, to give his side a lifeline.

The Dolly Blues had the final say though as substitute Tom Kilifin made it 3-1 with five minutes to go after some poor defending by the Grantham defence, as City deservedly took all three points in what was a very impressive team performance.
