The Dolly Blues head to Lincolnshire still looking for their opening win of the new NPL Premier Division season.

City have picked up just two points from their first three league games and also suffered a shock exit from the FA Cup when they were beaten 2-1 by North West Counties Premier Division outfit Skelmersdale United.

Last weekend they were frustrated by the weather as heavy rain caused the pitch at Giant Axe to be waterlogged, forcing their game against Gainsborough Trinity to be postponed.

Despite the difficult start to the season, Fell is not feeling too downcast as he believes his side should have more to show for their performances.

He believes it will only be a matter of time before the first three points will be registered next to City’s name.

“I still very much think that we will still have a big say at the top of the table,” said Fell. “We understand now that the more games that we don’t get results in, the more it is going to increase pressure on us.

“The more it is that that first win will have a stigma attached to it until we get it.

“We want to get that first win out of the way and then we can get cracking.”

City drew their first league game of the season 1-1 at Stalybridge Celtic when they were arguably the better side.

They then lost a tight game to Basford United before conceding an equaliser in stoppage time last time out against Morpeth Town.

“It’s painful when you look back,” said Fell. “But what it does show is that we are not a 100 miles off.

“We are in a good place and we just need the results to show us that.

“It shows to me that there doesn’t need to be wholesale changes.

“We might have to do a bit of tinkering with the squad because we maybe carrying one or two too many in the squad now. But other than that, we just need to carrying on believing in what we are doing to get us over the line in a game.

“Once that happens, we will have got that off our backs and we can crack on.”

On Tuesday, City are away to FC United of Manchester.
