Morecambe Ladies coasted into the second round of the Lancashire Women’s Regional League Cup with a 17-1 victory at Woolton on Sunday.
Melissa Brown and Megan Doherty both scored five, Sarah Gardner a hat-trick, Gina Pendlebury two with Hannah Williamson and Laura Callis getting a goal apiece.
Brown opened the scoring on 10 minutes before Garder nodded in a second.
After the hosts pulled a goal back Brown restored the two-goal lead, Callis smashed in a well-deserved goal and Brown sealed her hat-trick for a 5-1 half-time lead. Gardner got her second shortly after the break with Brown soon scoring her fourth and Morecambe’s seventh.
Doherty came off the bench and a quick-fire hat-trick took Morecambe to double figures.
Her fourth made it 11-1, Williamson got the 12th before Gardner became the latest to score a hat-trick.
Pendlebury then joined the party 10 minutes from time before Brown’s fifth made it 15.
Not to be outdone, Doherty joined her strike partner on five before Pendlebury headed in her second to complete the scoring.
