The former Lancaster City midfielder is the final member of last season’s squad to have his future finalised after putting pen to paper for another 12 months.

The combative 23-year-old said: “I was always going to sign again, it was never in doubt and it will be great to meet up with the lads again this week.

“Once the fixtures came out last week I started to look forward to getting back and in the swing of things again.

“We didn’t finish off well last season but that is at the back of our minds now and we will be totally focused on what is ahead of us.

“It’s a tough start with some tough fixtures but we seem to be better when we are seen as the underdogs and I’m sure we will be up for the challenge again.”

Kenyon, from Euxton, has made more than 100 appearances for The Shrimps since signing from Stockport County in 2013 with boss Jim Bentley believing that experience will be vital in the middle of the park.

Bentley said: “We are obviously delighted to see Alex back with us.

“He is still only a youngster really but has played more than 100 games for us and that experience will be valuable this season.”

Kenyon becomes the 13th player under contract at the Globe Arena after signing on the dotted line as the players returned for pre-season training on Tuesday.
