Post-match, it was announced that Liverpool youngster Jack Dunn – who had scored the first of their goals at the Globe Arena – had agreed a loan move until January 2017.

“We’re looking to try and get one or two more in to boost the numbers,” Bentley said.

“In an ideal world you would have your squad ready, up and running, from day one but we’re still looking to bring one or two extra bodies in who will improve us.”

Nizic has been with the Shrimps throughout pre-season after leaving Burnley at the end of last season.

The 21-year-old Australian left Turf Moor after three seasons which included loan moves to Workington, Chorley and Crewe Alexandra.

Goalkeeper was a position which needed filling with Barry Roche the Shrimps’ only option before Nizic signed on.

“We need two keepers and he’s proved in pre-season he’s got a lot of attributes,” Bentley said of his new acquisition.

“He’s shown potential and that he’s got a lot going for him.

“Hopefully, in time, he will progress nicely, put pressure on Barry Roche and become a very good goalkeeper because he’s still very young and he’s still learning his game.”

As for Dunn, the 21-year-old former England Under-19 striker has previously been on loan at Burton Albion and Cheltenham Town.

His stay will be long enough to take in the game against Crewe on January 2.

Bentley said: “Jack is someone who has always impressed me and I am delighted that he has come to us.

“He is an excellent player and a great finisher and he will be a real boost to the squad and I am sure he will excite the fans as well.”
