The victory means The Shrimps have upset three League 1 sides in this year’s competition with after wins over Walsall and Bury in the first two rounds.

Bentley said: “What a night, I’m absolutely made up.

“We’ve had a little bit of a sticky spell and come here tonight against a very good League 1 side.

Look back at the game with our Shrimps Live blog “But every one of the players tonight was absolutely unbelieveable. Our crowd travelled over in great numbers like they did against Bury in the last round as well and I’m absolutely made up for them.

“We haven’t fluked it tonight, let’s get it right. I thought we deserved it.

“We missed a penalty as well and had a golden chance at the end with Jamie Devitt one-on-one with the ‘keeper.

“But we’re into the semi-finals and it’s a great achievement what the lads have done.

“To beat Walsall when they were top of the league, to beat Bury who were the form side in the country at the time and then to come here and beat a team like Rochdale is an unbelievable achievement.

“I’m made up for everyone at Morecambe Football Club."
