“If we go about our business like we have in the last three games, we will do OK”: Morecambe look to turn performances into points
Morecambe boss Jim Bentley says the next fortnight could have a major bearing on his side’s season.
Last weekend’s defeat to York City left the third-bottom Shrimps nine points from safety in the National League, having played at least one game more than the teams they are looking to overhaul.

They are back in action tonight at 15th-placed Wealdstone (7.45pm) before matches against Sutton United (March 7), Braintree Town (March 14) and Yeovil Town (March 21): all of whom are in the bottom seven.
Having won one of his first seven matches since returning to the club last month, Bentley is looking for points as the Shrimps aim to avoid dropping back into regionalised football next season.
He said: “If we go about our business like we have in the last three games, we will do OK.
“On Saturday, we really looked like a team that wanted to give their all to stay up.
“Now we have a big week ahead of us, with a lot of travelling, and we will have to look at the squad and make sure everyone is fit with a lot of games in a short period of time having an effect.
“There was a lot of finger-pointing after the defeat against Southend, where we conceded five, but since then there have been plenty of improvements in individuals and as a collective.
“We have asked some players to do more and they have responded magnificently.
“We want lads to run hard for 90 minutes and effect the game in the opposition’s box while, at the same time, defend manfully like we did against York – and if you do all that, that’s all you can do and hopefully it will be enough.
“If we showed the determination we showed on Saturday in every game, hopefully we can have a little bit of luck too going forward where we can get something to fall in our favour.
“There’s a connection between the fans, players and the club again. We will need everyone to pull in the right direction and if we do that, we will surprise a few.”
