Garstang finished their first season back in the West Lancashire Premier Division nine games unbeaten with a final day 3-2 victory at Euxton Villa on Saturday.
It was a result that saw Iain Swan’s side finish 10th having steered themselves clear of any relegation danger.
Matthew Poole’s 18th of the season helped Garstang on their way to victory with youth team player Tom Graham and the in-form Aaron Helliwell also on the mark.
It was the visitors however who were under pressure in the early stages at the Jim Fowler Memorial Fields, Jim Brindle saving from Jordan Horner seven minutes in.
But the Riversiders were soon pressing themselves, Gaz Fawcett firing wide before a nice move involving Graham and Fawcett saw Chris Anderson go close.
Fawcett and Graham then brought a double save form Villa stopper Shaun Gibbs before Garstang went in front seven minutes before the break.
Lee McKenna didn’t deal with a long clearance allowing Poole to nip in and score.
The hosts were still well in the game however, Brindle denying Danny Marland as the half drew to a close.
Helliwell had a good chance in the early stages of the second period and Villa also hit a post as the game continued to go from end to end.
Garstang doubled their lead on 52 minutes however, Anderson keeping would-be tacklers at bay before feeding Graham who finished in style to make it 2-0.
It was six in six for Helliwell six minutes later as the former Lancaster City man capitalised on a Euxton error to make it 3-0.
It all seemed to be going Garstang’s way when a Poole hit a post from a free-kick but the ball was quickly moved to the other end of the field where Horner pulled a goal back.
Fawcett looked to have made the game safe but his effort was somehow cleared off the line before Byron Andrew set up a frantic finale with Euxton’s second goal.
Garstang held on however to finish their season in style.
