Breslin went close on the quarter hour before Slyne’s Leon Gierke shot across the Garstang goal shortly after.

Gary Louth was the next to have a sight of goal for the hosts but could only shoot wide. Breslin then fired over the bar as a crowd of 166 lapped up a fine derby clash.

Slyne came close to an opener 10 minutes before the interval with O’Connor firing in a shot that came back off the bar.

Garstang stopper Curwen was then forced into a point-blank save on the stroke of half-time to ensure it was goalless at the break.
