Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “His contract has been terminated not because he’s a bad lad, just because his face doesn’t fit for whatever reason so he’s got to find another club.

“Ideally we wanted to play him in the reserves yesterday (Wednesday) at Wrexham but that got called off because of the hard ground.

“He’s been in a couple of days, is a good lad, has fitted in with the group and looks a good player.

“We’ll see what happens.”

Bentley, still to make his first signing in the January window, also revealed that there had been talks about Jack Sampson leaving the Globe Arena on loan.

He said: “Our squad’s a decent squad.

“We’ve got players coming back from injury and it might be that one or two miss out because everyone’s fit and well barring Andy Wright and Barry Roche.

“But we want a little injection and we’re always exploring avenues and options.

“It may be that one or two players go out before anything happens.

“We’ve had little bit of interest in Jack Sampson for a loan move but that hasn’t developed.

“We’ll see what happens over the next week or two.”
