Young Morecambe defender Chris Doyle has agreed a new one-year deal with the club.
The 20-year-old spent the end of last season on loan with National League North side Chorley with The Shrimps announcing in their retained list they were “in negotiations” with the highly-regarded prospect.
Despite several weeks without any news Doyle looks set to officially put pen to paper when he returns for pre-season training on Wednesday, July 1.
Shrimps general manager Mark Dixon said: “It’s a holiday situation and it’s just been a matter of getting people together.
“He had a prolonged season with Chorley and then went away on holiday, there’s been holidays here and his agent has been away too!
“There’s never been any issue and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to secure his services for another 12 months.
“We’re hoping that he continues to progress to a point where he can affect the first team.”
