Galgate started confidently and took the lead within the opening 90 seconds when a Jacob Robertson blockbuster from 25 yards found its way into the top corner of the net.

Caton drew level in the 65th minute following some good wing play which opened up the Galgate defence, allowing Joe Bouskill to tap the ball home from six yards out into an empty net.

Trimpell and Bare Rangers were beaten 1-0 at home to Carmtel and District, the league’s sole remaining team with a 100 per cent record.

The first half was very even but a stunning Cameron Young strike in the second period gave Cartmel the lead.

From then on it looked as though Cartmel could have gone on and scored more goals, which on the balance of play they should have, but they had to settle for a 1-0 win and open up a five point gap over their hosts.

Meanwhile, Ingleton opened up a five point lead at the top after overcoming College AFC 4-0.

Both sides played some excellent football, but the difference between the two teams on the day was the finishing – Joe Towers and Aaron Woodhouse both grabbed a brace each to take the game away from College.
