Morecambe will not be adding to their squad on transfer deadline day.

Boss Jim Bentley says no new players will be arriving at the Globe Arena on Thursday as clubs higher up the divisions spend big money in a bid to turn around their seasons.

Bentley said: “We’re not blessed like the Premiership clubs who can sign mega-million pound deals with players coming and going.

“We’ve just come in for training and we’re focussing on York City at the weekend.

“The only business that might be happening is there might be one or two of the young lads going out on loan to aid their development but no-one will be coming in today.”

He may not to be looking to bring in new faces but The Shrimps manager is however working hard to tie current players down to new contracts for next season.

He said: “In this day and age managers like to sign 16 or 17 players and if it doesn’t work they get shut of them and start again and hope they get the winning formula.

“We’re not blessed with regards to finances but we want to build something for the future of the club and keep the nucleas of a good squad together and continue to move forward.

“So it’s important to get a couple of early signings to keep hold of some of our better players, particularly the younger lads, because they are the future of the club.

“At the moment, we are discussing terms with one or two of those players because it’s important to get them nailed down.”

Former Accrington defender Aristote Nsiala played for The Shrimps reserves in their 2-2 draw at Wrexham on Wednesday.

The free agent Congo international is training with Bentley’s side but there are no plans for him to join the club as things stand.
