A last minute goal condemned Slyne-with-Hest to a 2-1 defeat at Blackpool Wren Rovers on Saturday.

It was a gallant display from Slyne, who were missing eight first-team regulars, against a Fylde coast side sitting second in the West Lancashire Premier 

The visitors weathered some early pressure but were dealt a serious blow when captain Alan Jackson had to go off with a badly torn calf muscle.

The game only came to life at the death, with all three goals coming in the final five minutes of a hard-fought match.

Blackpool struck first, attacking down the right a cross into the area was met by Chris Corless who flicked the ball into the net to give the home side the 

Slyne then produced an impressive fight back and were back on level terms three minutes later.

James Galley burst forward and managed to get on the end of a Mills through ball to steer the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

But the visitors’ joy was short lived.

With time running out the home side were awarded a corner kick which was headed down unmarked to Oliva Crolla who turned the ball into the net at the far post to snatch the three points.
