In the Alan Shanks/Fisher/Howson Remembrance Cup third round Lancaster Rovers Reserves entertained and beat Trimpell and Bare Rangers Reserves 5-3 to book their place in the semi-finals.

The Rovers side started much better and within the opening five minutes took the lead thanks to the excellent Christian Icob.

The Rovers extended their lead after 20 minutes when Phil Johnston turned his marker twice and curled his shot into the top right hand corner, giving the keeper no chance.

The second half started well for the Rovers when Icob made it 3-0 within five minutes of the restart after pressurising the Trimpell defence.

Trimpell pulled a goal back when after a good run down their left wing Kevin Byrne cut inside the penalty area and from 12 yards fired an unstoppable shot into the top right hand corner of the net to make it 3-1.

Their joy lasted less than 60 seconds though because straight from the restart the Rovers attacked down their left where the winger found an unmarked Nathan Howse and his first time shot hit the back of the net to make it 4-1.

In the 72nd minute Trimpell found the net again when Bryne scored his second to make it 4-2.

Trimpell found a new lease of life and with just 10 minutes remaining Graeme Cassidy got his side right back into the game when his shot found the back of the net to make it 4-3.

Trimpell pressed for the equaliser and came close on a couple of occasions but the Rovers dealt them a killer blow in the 85th minute when Icob completed an excellent hat-trick to send his team into the semi-final where they will travel to meet College AFC Reserves.

In the Baines Bagguley Penhale North Lancashire and District Football League Premier Division it would appear that Bentham will be relegated to Division One after suffering their 15th defeat of the season, losing 5-0 to Highgrove who were always in charge.

Goals from Joe Martin (2), Luke Ogley, Mark Bridden and Lee Richardson settled the game.

Although Ingleton played below their best they were still too good for a disappointing Galgate side that promised so much early on.

Joe Towers (2), Sam Hutcheson and Alex Hartley scored the Ingleton goals to move them up to fourth position in the league.

Carnforth Rangers gained ample revenge for an early season setback when Trimpell beat them 3-1 at Carnforth.

Carnforth set their stall out to beat Trimpell and keep their hopes alive of winning the championship this season and from the first whistle they were by far the better side.

In Damien Murphy they had the best player on the pitch as he scored all three goals in an impressive display as he led from the front and helped his side go top of the table.

Lancaster Rovers entertained Arnside in what turned out to be an excellent game.

Five minutes into the second half the Rovers took a fortunate lead when a good move down their right wing followed by a mis-hit shot from Josh Lancaster went straight through the keeper’s hands and into the net.

Arnside’s reply was instantaneous as within two minutes they had equalised after leading scorer James Kirkham beat his marker to fire into the goal giving the keeper no chance.

The game then returned to how it was in the first half with both sides giving 100 per cent but not able to produce anymore goals so the result was a 1-1 draw and probably the fairest on the day.

This point leaves Arnside seven points from a relegation place.
