Morecambe striker Jordan Burrow has joined Stevenage after turning down a new deal at the Globe Arena.

The 20-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the League 1 side after turning down a new Shrimps contract on reduced terms.

The former Chesterfield man, who made 35 appearances last season, including 15 starts, joins Nick Fenton, Will Haining and Gary McDonald in departing the Shrimps with boss Jim Bentley forced to cut his playing budget.

Burrow scored five goals during his time at the Globe Arena after joining the club from his home-town side in January 2012.

Bentley said: “We made Jordan an offer but again it was on reduced terms and he has decided not to accept.

“I’m really sorry to see Jordan leave because I really do think he has a bright future in the game.

“He has a lot of strengths and is getting better all the time but he sees his future elsewhere and I hope he does really well for himself.

“I know a couple of other Football League clubs have been looking at him and I am sure he will get another club soon.”
