“Before a ball was kicked this season we were the favourites to go down but in house we know we’re capable of beating anyone on our day.

“We’ve got a bit stronger this year and there is a buzz around the place.

“The training ground’s improved, the youth set up is getting better there’s been a little shake up in the boardroom.

“Even the charity game on Sunday, it’s all been positive, and you’ve got to try and build on that when you’ve got a bit of momentum.

“But we’ve got to make sure we go from game-to-game and don’t look too far ahead.

“Plymouth’s up next and I hope the home support will come out and get right behind us like they always do.

“Hopefully we can get another three points on the board and get into the top two.

“That’s the aim, there’s a possibility we could even go top but we’ll see what’s what.”

Bentley is also well aware of the threat posed by John Sheridan’s Plymouth, who have won their last two in League 2.

He said: “They’re a big club, they’ve played at a much higher level than this.

“For one reason or another they’ve found themselves at this level but it’s a fantastic fan base, a big city, a big club, and they’re a good side and they’re doing okay at the moment and we know it’ll be another tough game for us.”
