fter a season where his team have struggled for victories Bentley said his players need to do everything they can to end the year on a high note.

He said: “We can’t deny it has been an amazingly frustrating season for a number of reasons, some things out of our control, others not, but it is always important to end a season well because it gives everyone a lift going into the summer months. It is much better to finish the season in high spirits and that has to be our goal.

“The summer is always a big time in terms of recruitment of players and for the club’s efforts to prepare for next season and a few good performances and points at the end of the campaign can help on both fronts.’’

They are both tough games as Barnet will come to the Globe Arena on Saturday doing all they can to finish their season strongly too and Coventry are very much in the hunt for a play-off spot so we will need to be at our best in both games to make sure we get something from them.

“I’ve made it clear to the lads I want as many points as possible this year and that is very much our aim.’’

Bentley will have to go into the final games without the experience of Garry Thompson who suffered a major injury at Crewe on Saturday that led to him being stretchered off in the first half.

Speaking after the game Bentley said: “Garry injured his Achilles which is a major injury for any player.

“It is a huge blow for him and a huge blow for us too as he started the game really well and had put in some dangerous crosses when he had to go off. We are yet to find out the true extent of the injury but it doesn’t look good at this stage.”
