Alex Kenyon had seen a cross deflected in to open the scoring early in the second half before Tranmere loanee Stockton struck twice.

Morecambe, who fielded eight different trialists before the night was out, made a bright start with Aaron Wildig crashing a shot off the underside of the bar inside five minutes.

The chances kept coming, trialists Michael Rose and Ryan Croasdale both firing narrowly wide, before Burnley youngster Daniel Agyei, another looking to impress, saw a shot come back off the post.

Bamber Bridge’s best chance of the half came on 26 minutes, Barry Roche needing to help over Curtis Thompson’s shot from distance.

Kevin Ellison nearly gave The Shrimps the lead right at the end of the opening period but couldn’t beat Marcus Burgess one-on-one.

The visitors didn’t have to wait long to get their noses in front though, Kenyon’s cross deflected past Burgess just three minutes into the second half.

Thompson then came close for a second time for Brig however, bringing an acrobatic save from The Shrimps’ trialist goalkeeper with a well-struck shot from 20 yards.

Stockton got his first 11 minutes from time, rounding Burgess and staying on his feet before cutting back and hammering home.

The loanee was then denied one-on-one by the Brig ‘keeper before his second came on 86 minutes, a low finish from close range after a slick Shrimps move.

Jim Bentley’s side threatened to run riot late on but Paul Mullin could only blaze over before Lee Molyneux saw a low shot saved.
