Peter Wilson was Westgate’s best bowler against his former club, taking 4-30.

Elsewhere, a resolute 34 not out from 120 balls from captain Dave Hannigan meant Westgate’s second team avoided defeat against Shireshead A.

Shires won the toss and elected to bat, posting 121-8.

Adam Murphy top scored with 42 while Westgate’s vice-captain Jacob Vaughan took 4-29.

The hosts had a terrible start in reply and were reduced to 27-6 but a partnership of 29 between Dakshina De Silva (13) and Hannigan gave the score some respectability.
