Shireshead won the toss and elected to bat first under bright sunny skies.

The table-toppers were soon in trouble however at 7 for 2 on a wicket with variable bounce which also offered the bowlers some sideways movement.

Sam Calverly (5 for 68 from 22 overs) made the most of the conditions, aided by two superb catches until Peter Wilson (21) counter-attacked Shireshead back in to the game with a series of boundaries.

He added 41 with Paul Yates (30), before Yates added a further 35 in the company of Nick Rafferty to give the batting side a handy platform at 83 for 3 from 24 overs.

A clatter of wickets to Stefan Dixon (3 for 41) however left Shireshead indebted to some lusty late order hitting from Izhar Ullah (27) and Phil Oliver (26 not out) to reach 167 all out.

Dave Jack (3 for 25) tore in to the Heysham reply as he clean bowled all his victims in reducing the home side to 16 for 3.

Jamie Antcliffe (31) and Andy Powers (31) then steadily rebuilt the innings as they added 46 before the introduction of Wilson (3 for 14) saw the end of Antcliffe.

Tom Jacques (4 for 32) removed Powers shortly afterwards and when Graeme Cassidy also fell the end was nigh.

Wilson and Jacques wrapped up the tail to leave Heysham stranded on 111 and secured another vital win for Shireshead.
