Club records broken at winter gala

A sensational 26 club records were broken at Lancaster City Swimming and Water Polo Club's Winter Gala at Salt Ayre.

Fifteen-year-old Adam Leech broke the men’s open 100m butterfly record in a time of 1.04 while 10-year-old Elizabeth Wearing added another four club records.

Georgia Hannam looked very strong in breaking the 100m freestyle and backstroke open records in 1.03 and 1.13.

Robin Austin and Isaac Quarry each collected two new records with both boys excellent in the 100IM and Rio Quarry showed good form in the 50m breaststroke.

Macy Evans was outstanding in the 200IM and the 100m buttterfly for 11-year-old girls in breaking both club records.

There were some great records broken in the girls’ 100m breaststroke with 15- year-old Millie Sykes in the open, Hannah Eaton in the 13 years and Larissa Hannam in the 12 year age group.

Records went to Daniel Leach in the 11-year-old 50 and 100m butterfly together with Aidan and Malachy Duffin in the boys’ 100m breaststroke.

Olivia and Marcus Robinson set club records in the girls open butterfly and boys’ 100m backstroke respectively.

Charlotte Peacock capped the championship off with a record in the 13 year girls butterfly.

Abbie Catlow, Lucy Tidswell, Michael Sallis, Shea Hannam, and Amy Shaw took advantage of the level four status gala to set some county qualifying times.

All in all it was a tremendous performance across all age groups with several longstanding club records being broken.
