City of Lancaster Triathlon young guns hit top form
As the junior triathlon season gets into full swing City of Lancaster Triathlon juniors are again making their mark with 16-year-old Georgia Hannam leading the way.
Georgia took gold at the first race in the GB Biathle series at Milfield in the 17/18 year old age group and at the Blackpool Junior Triathlon where she won the Junior Female Category.
The Biathle involved a 1500m run followed by 200m swim and a final 1500m run. The Blackpool Triathlon involved a 400m swim, 10km bike and 3.2Km run that Georgia completed in 37min, 43s.
Forty young COLT’s also competed at the NW Junior Relays and the Blackpool Junior Triathlon. At the relays, the joint Carnforth Otters and COLT team ‘BMW Otters’ won the Tristar 3 girls with the swim legs being completed by Aimee Banks (14), the bike by Amy Monkhouse (14) and the run by Emma Whitaker (14).
COLT AZA where the youngest team competing for COLT who put in a superb performance to take second place with the 12 legs completed by Zach Earnshaw (8), Anan Tiger Clarke (9) and Archie Honeysett (9).
COLT Top Guns took first place - Rhys Ashton (10), Thomas Dowthwaite (11), Alice Sands (11) and Jake Edwards (11). TriHards, a joint Lancaster City Swimming and Water Polo Club and COLT team took second place in the Tristar 3 category with Rio Quarry (14) looking after the swim, James McCracken (13) doing the bike and Harry Shaw (13) the run.
Further individual performances from the Blackpool Junior Triathlon include a third and fourth place in the Tristar 2 category for Sasha Oldham (11) and Larissa Hannam (11), third place for Rhys Ashton (10) in Tristar 2 boys, third and fourth places for Lydia Shenton and Ruby Frankland (13) in Tristar 3 girls, second place for Shea Hannam (14) in Tristar 3.
Shea also took second place at the Millfield Biathle in the 13/14 year old age category.
