Following last weekend’s defeat at Fleetwood Carnforth got back on the winning trail with victory over an ever-improving Blackpool side.

It took 28 minutes for the first score of the day. Joe Harrison received the ball 30 yards out and there seemed no danger to the defence but the big centre barged through before sprinting away for a fine solo try. Blackpool hit back and following a mistake in the defence the visiting player was able to pounce on a loose kick to score which was converted as they took a 7-5 lead at the interval.

Within two minutes of the restart Graham Rich made the break and with Dan Blenkharn and Harrison linking up it was the latter who gave a superb pass to Brad Wheatman, the centre sprinting away for a well-worked Carnforth try.

Blackpool levelled the scores with a penalty kick on the 50-minute mark but on the hour Carnforth got through the defence again with Rich and Blenkharn the instigators.

Again Harrison made the final pass as winger Phil Metcalfe continued his fine form with another try with Morgan converting superbly from the touchline.

Carnforth then went further ahead, Sam Tomlinson making a superb break from full back with Blenkharn and Lowrie linking up to allow Morgan to take an inside pass to crash through for the fourth try.

With five minutes to go the game was sealed, scrum half Kevin Hardy capping a fine game with an excellent grubber kick, Harrison and sub Matty Lovering leading the chase before Harrison emerged with the ball to score his second try of the game to round off a satisfying victory.
