Morecambe’s Westgate Warrior didn’t win the English featherweight title he had originally been scheduled to fight for but did triumph in a hastily arranged contest against Jamie Quinn to capture the International Masters Bronze Featherweight title.

Original foe Lee Glover pulled out of their much-anticipated clash after failing to make weight with Quinn being drafted in at the last minute after a crazy couple of days for Lowe’s camp and manager Steve Wood.

Stockport’s Quinn had only won one of 11 entering the contest but proved a tough nut to crack with Lowe prevailing 78-75 after eight competitive rounds to move his own unblemished professional record to 10-0 at the King George’s Hall.

The 21-year-old, accompanied to the ring by good friend Tyson Fury, was watched by Morecambe FC manager Jim Bentley and his assistant Ken McKenna who were amongst a vocal contingent who made the trip to East Lancashire from the resort.

Lowe now hopes to fight for the English title in his next fight in either late May or June.
