Reece MacMillan's debut now set for April

The welterweight was due to enter the paid ranks at Preston’s Guild Hall on Saturday night only for an administration error with his medical to get in the way.

The news on the Wednesday before the fight was a bitter blow for the former Skerton ABC man but his Greater Manchester-based trainer and manager Kieran Farrell has quickly sorted a new debut date.

MacMillan will fight on Saturday, April 23, on a show being promoted by Tyson Fury’s advisor Asif Vali at Bolton Wanderers’ Macron Stadium.

Farrell said: “It was no fault of mine and it was no fault of Reece’s.

“It was really frustrating but we’ve got a new date sorted.

“He’s going to have another brain scan this week and that will give us plenty of time to chase things up make sure it’s all sorted in time.”
