On Saturday Steven Douglas and Marcin Lewicki were in Walkden to box in the national quarter-finals of the senior championships.

Both boxers put in great performances and were unlucky to lose out on close split decisions.

Later that day in Moss Side Jimmy Mason boxed a Moss Side Boxing Club boxer in front of a raucous crowd but soon silenced them with a display that showed how far he has progressed in recent months, controlling all three rounds for a unanimous win.

Next up was Andre Vidal Jr boxing another home club boxer and after an even first round the Skerton boxer upped the pace and was the latest unanimous winner for the Morecambe-based club despite suffering from a stomach bug earlier in the day.

Ben is joining the club due to work commitments and living in the Bay area and he took the winning mentality of the club with him on Saturday to triumph his bout by unanimous decision.

He will be representing Skerton in an upcoming bout in Blackpool next month and has been training with the club for the last four weeks.
