Athletics: Runners out in force on the roads

There was a decent turnout from Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club runners at the final race in the Pilling Elletson Arms 10k series.

First for the club and fourth overall was Mark Leadbetter in 37m.39.

In sixth place was Warren Mason in a good time of 40m.46, followed by Jon Sear running well to finish ninth in 42m.23.

Jayne Perry was first local female with a great effort of 43m.10 placing her second female and 14th overall.

Other finishers were Phil Fawcett in 45m.59, Michael Roy in 46m.57, Dave Winkfield in 51m.26 and Karen Davis in 1h.09.11

At the Green Drive five-mile race in Lytham Lee Parrington had a super run, finishing 10th overall in 28m.40.

Next was Michael Roy in 37m.54 and George Parrington in 40m.31 to finish third veteran 65.

The JWK Solicitors Lancaster half marathon was a great success, with more than 600 finishers and a great turnout by local athletes.

First club runner was Daryl Hayton, who had a fantastic race running a superb time of 1h.14.52 to claim third.

Next in was Phil Lowery finishing 11th with a solid run of 1h.21.32, followed by Mark Leadbetter with a good run of 1h.22.36 and David Brown ran well for 18th place in 1h.23.22.

First female for the club was Nikki Kay, with a great run of 1h.37.14, followed by Louise Goddard running well in 1h.38.37 and Anne Dareys in 1h.57.51.

Other finishers were James Edwards in 1h.27.28, Kieran Rowlands in 1h.30.31, Jon Sear in 1h.33.40, William Cross in 1h.47.03, Emily Stapleton in 2h.06.00 and Ashley Toms in 2h.09.13.
