Athletics: Raymond takes win in Pilling for Lancaster and Morecambe Club

There was a decent turnout of Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club runners at the first of this year’s Pilling 10k series last weekend.

Raymond Edgar claimed first place by a large margin with a strong run of 33m.03.

The local club also took second prize in the women’s race with Carolyne Baxter continuing her good form with an excellent run of 37m.48 placing her seventh overall.

Next was Philip Fawcett running well in 45m.19, followed by David Wilkinson with a good effort of 47m.09.

The other finishers were Liz Hickingbotham in 49m.02, Carole Wilkinson in 51m.36, Anne Dareys in 54m.15 and Michelle Whitton in 56m.17.

Two Lancaster athletes also took part in the Freckleton half marathon. Philip Lowery finished well up the field in 18th with a fine run of 1h.21.39 and Tony Jewitt posted a decent run of 1h.39.51.

Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club’s annual mid-week 10k road race takes place on Wednesday, July 15.

The event at Salt Ayre Sports Centre is £10 for runners with clubs and £12 for non-attached, with an additional £2 fee for entries on the night.
