Athletics: Ray continues his fine form on the roads

Lancaster and Morecambe athletes have continued to enjoy success on the roads in the last few weeks.

At the Pilling 10k Lancaster athlete Ray Edgar smashed out another great performance, recording 32m.36 for a convincing win.

In next was Sean Davis running well to finish 11th in 40m.16 and Helena Lewis followed in 49m.04.

Other finishers were David Howarth in 50m.35, Niamh Lewis in 53m.20 and Michelle Whitton in 58m.50.

There was a big showing of club athletes at the Lancaster 5k Saturday night series and Edgar was up at the front end again.

This time he finished second after a close battle with a fantastic effort of 15m.13.

Ray was backed up by team-mates Mark Leadbetter with a superb run of 17m09 and James Dalgleish in 18m.15.

Lancaster’s Carolyne Baxter continued her excellent form, flying round the course in 17m.23 to claim first place. Jayne Perry was next with a solid effort of 19m.02.

Other finishers were Jon Sear in 19m.17, Helen Booth in 19m.26, Michael Roy in 20m.22, Graham Hodgson in 20m.37, David Wilkinson in 21m.53, Emily Stapleton in 23m.06, Carole Wilkinson in 24m.06, Robin Sharp in 24m.59, Karen Davis in 33m.01, Richard Stapleton in 34m.05, Helen McGregor in 34m.06 and Susan McGann in 36m.20.
