A BRACE from Dave Swarbrick helped Lancaster City dump holders Ashton United out of the Doodson Sport Cup last night.
Danny Gregson and Max Rothwell scored the other goals as the Dolly Blues brushed aside the Evo-Stik Premier Division side to move into the fourth round of the competition.
Boosted by news that boss Tony Hesketh was staying with the club, City produced their second cup upset of the season after knocking FC United out of the FA Cup earlier in the season.
Swarbrick, who returned to the club in September after a brief spell with AFC Fylde, now has eight goals for the Dolly Blues this season, all of them coming in cup competitions.
At Ashton, Swarbrick was paired with reserve team striker Joe Bunney, who was handed a rare start after impressing for City’s second string this season.
Hesketh’s side return to league action this Saturday, November 5, when they host Wakefield at the Giant Axe.
