Two of the biggest names in mobile gaming are calling for you to try them, so which are you going to play first? A Reviewer for Skycoach gave both a shot and makes their recommendations.

Brawl Stars and Clash of Clans are two of the most advertised games in the mobile game market – you can’t scroll any social media for two seconds without finding an ad for one of them!

I eventually broke and decided to give each a shot. Without knowing much about each game, I actually assumed they would be similar but that couldn’t be further from the truth! In this article, I want to dive into what makes both of these games special and which one is the right one for you!

If you do decide to try out either of these games, I would recommend you buy a Brawl Stars account or a Clash of Clans account. Both of these games can be quite a grind if your gaming time is limited, and this way you can skip most of the slow parts.

Summary

Brawl Stars and Clash of Clans are both made by mobile game developer Supercell, who have an excellent record when it comes to their mobile games. They reach great success with every entry, such as Clash Royale, Boom Beach and Squad Busters. However, I would argue by far the biggest of their titles are both Brawl Stars and Clash of Clans, and their success is earned! So if you’re thinking of jumping into one of these games I recommend you stay for the read as I’m about to point out their main differences.

Brawl Stars

Brawl Stars is a PvP multiplayer arena shooter from a top-down perspective. In this game you have to work alone, or with teammates in order to either take down an enemy team or complete a certain objective depending on the mode.

The game features a variety of game modes that rotate regularly. These include:

· Showdown (solo, duo, trio): This is your regular deathmatch-style mode where the objective is to take down the enemy players.

· Gem grab (3v3 and 5v5): You collect gems and try to be the team holding the most when the timer hits zero, be careful though because getting eliminated makes you drop your gems, making an opening for your enemy to grab them!

· Brawl ball (3v3 and 5v5): Take the ball to the opposing team’s goal to score! Be the first to score 2 goals to win.

· Knockout: Defeat the opposing team in a best-of-three Knockout round contest! Defeated Brawlers stay out until the next round. Eventually, poison clouds will cover the Map if the fight goes on for too long.

There are many more modes, and there’s even some event modes that only show up during special occasions!

The game features a large variety of characters that all feel unique and take some time to learn. These characters take on the roles of tanks, DPS support, similar to how a MOBA works. With matches that only last around one to three minutes, it’s no wonder this game can be found on so many phones, as it provides a blast of fun in a short duration. The game also features plenty of crossover events and updates that keep the game feeling fresh!

In conclusion, this game is catered to people that want a way more active style of game that they can sit down and experience an intense battle. A much more active game than the next one we will talk about.

Clash of Clans

A drastically different game, Clash of Clans puts your strategy skills to the test by tasking you in creating a fortress to defend while also managing resources and creating an army to take the battle to the enemy.

This game is a lot more passive than Brawl Stars, as sometimes you will run out of things to do because of the way building and upgrading works. Once you start one of these tasks, you will be given timers of varying lengths of real time to wait.

However, that’s not the bulk of the gameplay. The real fun starts once you have a small army to take to the enemy. Once you do a short tutorial and are given free rein to invade other players you only have to grab your army and drop it into the enemy map, almost everything else is done automatically.

However, you have to be very smart about the placement of your units, as the enemy has been creating a fortress much like yours that will be filled with traps and bottlenecks. So trial and error might be necessary to finally create an army that can take even the most defended base.

At one point you will unlock spells which will have various effects such as healing, buffing or even damaging units and buildings directly. Clash of Clans also features their titular clans, which is where you will be participating on activities such as:

  • Clan Wars: a strategic set of battles between two Clans of roughly equal strength. You will but put to the test in these battles, so use them as a learning tool as well.
  • Clan games: events where clan members work together to complete challenges and earn rewards for the entire clan.

There’s a lot more activities and changes that the game goes through as you play it, which keeps everyone coming back to see whatever they will unlock next.

Not only is this a more passive game, but it’s also a lot more community-based than Brawl Stars. You can chat with your clan and even fight each other. This game asks you to sit down a while you think through what your base needs to have a better defence and what your army needs to fight efficiently.

In conclusion

Both of these games have earned their massive success through the dedicated devs giving the games updates and listening to their community.

Despite both games being made by Supercell, they couldn’t be any more different. Brawl Stars is definitely a more intense game for those that seek action. Clash of Clans is a game for those that prefer to wait a while, pick up the phone maybe once a day, and do a few tasks. Win a few battles. It’s still a game that asks you to use your brain but in a much less intense way. Both amazing games in different ways.
