A good friend of mine, Jim Newton, has just sent me a photograph and an article that links Pakistan and Lancaster and common sense.
“Seeing the article on the double-decker bus getting jammed under the bridge on St George’s Quay made me think of how we got out of such a problem on our trip to India. In Wah in Pakistan the railway bridge was 13 feet high so we lowered the tyre pressures to 10 pounds and crept under the bridge. We reflated them on the other side, of course, and carried on. A good tip don’t you think?”
