It’s been a privilege

Can I through your paper thank everyone who supported me in the recent elections?

I was not successful in the city council.

It has been an honour and a privilege to serve on the city council for eight years, working for the people of Torrisholme, Morecambe and our district.

I am sure your new representatives will continue in this essential community role.

I would like to thank everyone who voted for me in the recent city and town council elections.

Whilst I was not
elected to the city council I am proud to say I was elected to Morecambe Town Council.

I would also like to thank my wonderful husband, family, friends and UKIP Morecambe and Lancaster branch for all their help and support over the last few weeks and months.

I hope to be a very active councillor and be available to all in Westgate regardless of wether you voted for me or not. If anyone had any local issues they would like to discuss with me that they feel I could help with please contact me.

I hope to also set up a regular surgery to meet with people.

UKIP Morecambe and Lancaster branch is a very small branch and I feel we have achieved so much over the last two years and can only continue to grow stronger with your support.

The people of Westgate have proven that voting UKIP will get you UKIP.

Once again thank you so much to everyone who has made this possible
and shown trust and belief in me.

*We would like to thank the voters of Heysham North Ward for participating in the recent elections.

Whether or not we ourselves received your vote, we would like to thank you all for keeping the flame of democracy alight. We hope your examples will encourage even more electors to vote in future elections.

We both work closely together to address your needs and will do our very best to serve you over the next four years.

You can contact us at the email address or by writing to Morecambe Town Hall.

*Now the dust has settled could I congratulate all successful candidates and commiserate with the unsuccessful ones?

Having represented
the electors of Carnforth
for some time I thank them for their trust in me in the past. However, at the ‘advanced’ age of 72 I felt that it was time that younger men and women take my place.

The three who have been successful will no doubt endeavour to ensure that the ‘C’ word (Carnforth) is fully and faithfully represented at Lancaster.

I would also thank the employees of the city from cleaners to chief executive for their patience and understanding and would recommend all new councillors to act on their advice.

A G (Tony) Johnson

Ex Carnforth Ward Councillor.

*I write to thank the voters of Poulton Ward who returned me as your ward councillor for both town and city for a further four years. I am honoured to represent you regardless of your political affiliations.

*The elections were mixed news for the local Labour Party. We were very disappointed that Amina Lone wasn’t elected to be Morecambe and Lunesdale’s MP. She would have been an excellent representative for the area. Amina is a very able and talented person so we don’t think this will be the last we’ll hear of her.

The better news is that there are now 29 Labour councillors on Lancaster City Council.

In Heysham the number of councillors increased from two to five.

We are determined to do our best for all Heysham residents, no matter how they voted, and also to fight for the whole district.

Difficult times confront us due to funding for councils from Westminster being slashed.

Labour councillors will do all we can to protect services for ordinary people, be creative – looking for new ways to do things and always being careful with (your) money. We would like to thank everyone who voted for us and will do our upmost to live up to the trust you have given us.

Coun Alan Biddulph, Heysham South

Coun Colin Hartley, Heysham South.

*June, Alex and Barbara
are pleased to have been elected to represent
Bare North Ward on Morecambe Town Council and will work hard to bring added value to the benefits of residents in Bare and Morecambe.

Councillors June
Ashworth, Alex Ashworth and Barbara Barber.
