I read that David Morris MP has proposed a road tunnel under Morecambe Bay linking up with Barrow.
The fact that he suggests a road tunnel and not a rail tunnel is telling and reflective of his government’s lack of credibility on environmental issues.
Having moved from Barrow to live in Lancaster 11-years ago this is a journey I regularly make by rail. I suggest that his effort may be better spent addressing issues with Northern Rail regarding old rolling stock and staff retention being so bad trains are cancelled.
At next year’s election, the British people face a choice on the environment. A choice between the Tories, who have broken their promise to be “the greenest government ever”, and left homes and livelihoods vulnerable to future flooding, and Labour, who will take the threat of climate change seriously.
