Fit them to car parks

Solar panels.
Solar panels.

Rather than creating a solar farm between Aldcliffe and Stodday, and thus gobbling up more precious countryside (Solar farm will be a ‘blot on the landscape’, July 24), why not do as suggested in a recent letter in one of the national newspapers, to whit, install covers over the car parks at local supermarkets and then put solar panels on top of them?

This would solve the problem of cars being too hot for elderly people, pets and others in weather like the recent heat wave, make it more pleasant in wet, windy and snowy conditions as well, and above all help to preserve what remains of our increasingly threatened ‘green and pleasant land’.
