I’m sure many of the readers still remember when John Bishop and his crew took over the Grand Theatre and adjoining car park for about a week to film Panto a few years ago.
There were reports in the press that, because they were using the outside (as well as the inside) of the theatre for filming, and a huge poster was put up on the side of the building advertising Dick Whittington, that several local people had ring the theatre trying to book for that pantomime, and were disappointed that it was not the Footlights’ annual production that year.
History is now repeating itself with a poster on display advertising The Merry Widow April 21-25 when it is actually taking place on Sunday afternoon June 14.
Don’t think you’ve missed it though, there’s still time to book.
What you missed was a brilliant farce Noises Off. Perhaps the Footlights will do that again?
