Youngsters climbed their way to an action-packed night out

Longridge Young People’s Centre hosted the event at its base in Berry Lane, and 44 children and teenagers made the most of the fun on offer.

As the upstairs room was transformed into The Crystal Maze, the youths took part in a series of thought-provoking challenges.

The ones which achieved the funniest results were a funky football obstacle course, where participants wore beer goggles and The Big Blue Grid, where young people had to use their skills to find the correct path across a grid.

Other activities included a sweets treats game, tangrams, a ball pool, quick draw, mind games and puzzles.

Meanwhile, karaoke downstairs was very popular, and the young people’s singing talents were matched by their enthusiasm.

There was a queue all night for body art, with young people keen to show off their creative and colourful designs.

Youngsters also discovered the benefits of aromatherapy as a means of relaxing and de-stressing through demonstrations.

The highlight of the evening was Lister Logic’s mobile climbing wall on Booths car park nearby, as the youngsters could test not only their climbing skills but also their fear of heights.

Daniel Burns and Ella Davies, who won prizes for climbing, made it look so easy and climbed up to the top in no time at all.

Daniel, 14, said: “It was great to have different activities available at the club and I really enjoyed the climbing wall.”

Twelve new young people attended for the first time, bringing the membership of the youth club to more than 300.

The successful evening ended with a buffet supper in the club’s Summer Beach themed cafe, which was well-deserved after all the challenging activities.

The event also provided a platform to celebrate the winner of the raffle, Ellie Kenyon, who won a £100 gift voucher.

The Youth Club at Longridge Young People’s Centre, in Berry Lane, is open on Mondays and Fridays, 7pm until 9pm, with an information, advice and support drop-in on Thursdays from 3pm to 5.30pm.
