Torrisholme captain Daniel Woods won the toss and decided to put the home team into bat first, as Great Eccleston racked up 200-8 from their 45 overs.

Torrisholme made an early breakthrough when Will Thistlethwaite (9) was caught by Liam Pemberton off James Cookson (3-26), and the score went from 16-1 to 41-2 when fellow-opener Matthew Moat (18) was caught by Cookson off Pemberton
(2-46).

Adam Green managed a knock of 32 but he too fell, LBW to Jack Heap (1-53), and Kal Umerji could only manage five runs before being caught by Cookson off Thomas Beeden (2-47) to leave the home side on 106-4.

Beeden struck again to remove Robert Swale LBW for 35, and the score was soon 131-6 when Mustaq Mohammed (5) was caught by Heap off Cookson.

Phil Booth (6) came and went, Cookson striking once more with the help of Joel Stewart, and Will Procter (0) was caught by Bryson Little off Pemberton to leave the hosts on 174-8.

However, Michael Rigby (47no), Ashit Jariwala (23 retired not out) and Jim Procter (1) saw the innings out for Great Eccleston, reaching the 200 mark for the loss of eight wickets.

Torrisholme reached their target with five overs to spare, despite losing Andy Butler (0) early on, caught by Swale off Michael Rigby (1-26).

Woods put in a real captain’s performance though, he finished on 82 not out and combined well with Cookson (37), who eventually fell to Jariwala (3-55).

Jariwala struck again to get rid of Little (0) LBW and then again to remove Stewart (23), with the help of Rigby.

Heap only managed a knock of seven before being bowled by Thistlethwaite (1-16), with Woods and Joseph Wills (37no) seeing Torrisholme home with relative ease to claim a five wicket victory.
