Woman seriously injured in M6 crash

A 49-year-old female motorcyclist was seriously injured following an incident on the M6 near Lancaster on Sunday.

The North West Air Ambulance attended the scene near Junction 34 at around 11.50am, after reports of a collision between a car and a bike.

The woman was airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital with arm, ankle and pelvic injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the bike had become trapped under the front of the car.

The crash caused long delays for motorists.

The Southbound carriageway was re-opened around 1pm but the Northbound lanes remained closed until 4.15pm.
