A WOMAN who crammed 271 pets into her Silverdale cottage has had a lifetime ban on keeping animals lifted.

RSPCA investigators who visited Rosalind Gregson’s home, in Lindeth, Road in September 2003, found 246 dogs, 16 birds, five cats, two kittens, a rabbit and a chinchilla.

The animals were emaciated and many were covered in faeces and urine, and were suffering from infections and injuries.

Nine of the animals had to be put down shortly after being removed from her home.

The ban was imposed at a court hearing in June 2005, when Mrs Gregson was also jailed for three months after admitting nine counts of animal cruelty.

She was released on appeal one week into the term, and has now had her ban on keeping animals lifted following a third application to Preston magistrates, after two previous failed attempts.
