Marvellous marrows, fantastic fuchsias and luscious leeks are just some of the produce which Dolphinholme residents have been growing over the summer in preparation for their annual village show, which takes place on Saturday, September 13.
With more than 100 classes to enter, there are plenty of opportunities for displaying potentially prize-winning vegetables, fruit and floral displays. For those without green fingers, there are classes covering photography, baking, preserves, winemaking and crafts.
A whole section of the show is devoted to children’s work so there really is something for everyone.
Even if you don’t have that competitive spirit, you can still come along and enjoy the afternoon as, following judging, the show opens to the public at 2.30pm and admission is free.
All the show entries will be available to view, along with homemade refreshments and a range of children’s amusements.
Later in the afternoon there is the drawing of the raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses and auction of donated produce. To round off the day, The Fleece, will be hosting a barbeque from 7pm.
