Lancaster Road in Slyne will be closed this weekend as part of work on the Heysham Link Road.
The work will take place between Throstle Grove and Green Lane from 11pm on Friday June 24 to 6am on Monday June 27.
The works include surfacing and tie-in works to the new A6 Lancaster Road Bridge.
Costain’s project manager Richard Helme said: “We expect to be completed earlier than Monday morning but the paving material requires time to gain strength prior to opening. The carriageway will be re-opened as soon as it is available. Access to The Keys pub and residences will be available at all times.”
There will be diversion signs in place but road users are bing advised to plan journeys ahead.
Traffic heading to Lancaster from Bolton-le-Sands will be diverted at the A6 junction with Coastal Road, and sent along Coastal Road/ Marine Road East, left onto Broadway, then onto Morecambe Road heading to Lancaster before re-joining the A6 near Our Lady’s Catholic High School.
Traffic heading north from Lancaster will be diverted from Greyhound Bridge , passing under Carlisle Railway Bridge on Morecambe Road, then onto Broadway via the Shrimp roundabout, before turning right Marine Road East/Coastal Road, re-joining the A6 at Bolton-Le-Sands.
Access to Hest Bank Lane businesses and residences will be available from the junction with Throstle Grove / Hasty Brow Road only.
Pedestrian access will be available throughout the closure on sign-posted walkways, however cyclists must dismount.
Richard added: “Once this work is complete and the A6 open, traffic will be travelling over the new Lancaster Road Bridge, we thank people for their patience whilst we carry out these works.”
