The Met Office have issued a #yellow weather warning which is in place for Lancaster and Morecambe through the afternoon and into the evening.

Spells of heavy rain on Wednesday afternoon and evening may lead to some travel disruption and flooding in places.

Regions and local authorities affected in North West England include Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, Cumbria and Greater Manchester.

What to expect with a yellow warning:

There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.

There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer.

Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer, possibly resulting in a few road closures.

There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater.

A police spokesman said: “As we always advise - if you are making use of the roads, never enter standing water!”
