Heavy prolonged rain has been causing river levels to rise across Lancashire, with many of the alerts below warn that there is still the potential of flooding during Thursday morning with more rain expected.

According to the Environment Agency flood information service these are the flood warnings and alerts currently in place:

A flood warning means that people need to act, such as turning gas and electricity off, moving items upstairs and taking family, pets and vehicles to safety.

River Irwell at Rawtenstall

Flooding of properties on and adjacent to Burnley Road  is possible from this afternoon, Wednesday 20th January.

Whitewell Brook at Piercy and Newchurch from Ashworth Road to Wood Lea Road

Flooding for properties adjacent to Whitewell Brook from Ashworth Road to Wood Lead Road is possible today,

Lower River Lune and Condor

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land and roads from Kirkby Lonsdale to Conder Green including Ingleton, High and Low Bentham, Wray, Hornby, Carnforth, Caton, Halton, Lancaster, Scotforth and Galgate. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Greta, Wenning, Hindburn, Roeburn, Keer, Lune, Conder, Burrow Beck and their tributaries.

Upper River Ribble, Hodder

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land in Settle, Barnoldswick, Bolton by Bowland, Sawley, Clitheroe, Slaidburn, Dunsop Bridge, Chipping and Ribchester. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Ribble and Hodder, Stock Beck, River Loud, Mearley Brook, Pimlico Brook and their tributaries.

Earby Beck and Glusburn Beck

River levels are forecast to remain elevated Earby Beck and Glusburn Beck as a result of persistent rainfall. Roads and farmland are most at risk.

River Calder in east Lancashire

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land and roads in the Trawden, Barrowford, Nelson, Colne, Burnley, Padiham, Accrington and Whalley areas. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Calder, Brun, Don, Hyndburn and Pendlewater and their tributaries.

Lower River Wyre

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land and roads in Wyre and the Fylde including Preesall, St. Michaels, Great Eccleston, Kirkham, Marton and Lytham. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Wyre, Cocker, Pilling Water, Main Drain, Liggard Brook, Dow Brook, Inskip Brook including their tributaries and other smaller watercourses.

Upper River Wyre, Brock

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land and roads in Abbeystead, Dolphinholme, Galgate, Scorton, Garstang, Churchtown and Billsborrow. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Wyre, Conder, Calder and Brock, Barton Brook, Woodplumpton Brook and their tributaries.

River Lostock and River Yarrow

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land and roads in Whittle-le-Woods, Clayton-le-Woods, Bamber Bridge, Lostock Hall, Farrington, Leyland, Chorley, Eccleston and Croston. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Lostock and Yarrow and their tributaries and other smaller watercourses including Carr Brook, Bannister Brook, River Chor and Syd Brook.

Lower River Douglas

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land and roads in Parbold, Rufford, Mawdesley, Croston, Bretherton, Tarleton and Hesketh Bank areas. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Douglas and Tawd, Eller Brook, Whams Ditch, River Yarrow, Wymott Brook including their tributaries and other smaller watercourses.

Upper River Douglas

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land as roads in Horwich, Adlington, Wigan, Appley Bridge and Skelmersdale. High river levels are possible on the River Douglas, Pearl Brook, River Tawd, Eller Brook and their tributaries.

Lower River Ribble and Darwen

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land and roads in Darwen, Blackburn, Higher Walton, Walton-le-Dale, Samlesbury, Preston, Fulwood, Cadley, Lea and Penwortham. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Ribble, Darwen and Blakewater, Savick Brook, Eaves Brook and Sharoe Brook and their tributaries.
