The government's Flood Information Service writes: "We expect river levels to remain high until 10am on Wednesday, August 5.

Fire crews alongside police, Lancaster City Council, the Environment Agency and the Great Places Housing Group have been called to assist with flooding in Lentworth Drive.

It has been confirmed around 50 people have been evacuated from their homes due to the flood waters, but no injuries have been reported.

Four fire engines, two swift water rescue teams, a high volume pump and the aerial support unit are at the scene to help control and reduce the water levels.

A spokeman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "There are two multi-storey residential properties and approximately 10 other domestic properties affected by the flood waters.

Flooding has also been predicted to affect low lying land and roads in Abbeystead, Dolphinholme, Galgate, Scorton, Garstang, Churchtown and Billsborrow.
