Water rescue for stranded bull

A prize bull had to be rescued from a North Yorkshire river by firefighters.

The beast became distressed and stranded on a bank after wandering into the River Ribble at Rathmell, Settle.

Fire crews from Settle were scrambled to assist a farmer and a vet at the scene.

North Yorkshire Fire Service said its crews used specialist water rescue equipment during the incident.

The uninjured bull was helped to safety at around 10am on Wednesday, August 7.
